Welcome to the Home of Masonicons

Icon design is the process of designing a graphic symbol that represents a some real, fantasy or abstract motive, entity or action.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Intuitive icons are an important part of AmigaOS since the first release in 1985 - users expect icons that describe the applications, tools and files in a clear way.

With AmigaOS 4, icons can be represented in full colour depth and in a bigger size to allow more details - Alpha channels and translucency for complex shading and dimensionality are also supported.

The icons offer a photo-illustrative icon style - it approaches the realism of photography but uses the features of illustrations to convey a lot of information in a small image.

An illustration also gives necessary control over details, perspective, light and shadow, texture, and the visualisation itself.
